Director Ilya built a realistic town and scientific research institute in Ukraine, recruited hundreds of amateurs to perform in an immersive way, trying to blur the boundaries between movies and real life, and create a parallel universe of the Soviet era from 1938 to 1968.
This most ambitious filming project in history resulted in more than 700 hours of film material. Among them, "DAU: Degeneration" is a 6-hour story about a secret research institute that conducts crazy mysterious experiments on residents and animals in order to create "super humans". When power and ideals gradually go out of control, will violence and tragedy only arise?
