Storytellers
2013・Japan・120 minutes
This film follows folklorist Kazuko Ono as she travels to Northeastern Japan, collecting folktales from the Northeast along the way. As the story unfolds, they gain insight into the psychological desires and spiritual images of the local people from the storyteller's mouth. How do modern people get into these seemingly cold and weird traditional stories? How do stories accompany the growth of storytellers and create new power in the process of inheritance? In addition to recording these important spiritual heritages, this film also attempts to lead the audience to regain their ability to listen.
