Tokyo-Ga (Digitally Remastered)
1985・Germany・United States・93 minutes
In order to pursue the spiritual trajectory of Ozu Yasujiro's "Tokyo Story", Vin Wenders came to Japan in the mid-1980s and recorded his impressions of Tokyo in a diary. He observed popular pachinko shops on the street, young people dressed in heavy rock and roll, and factories that make food models for sushi restaurant decorations. He also interviewed Ozu's favorite actor Tomozo Kasa and his exclusive photographer of 25 years, Yuharu Atsuda. The casual style is like a personal letter written by a movie fan to an admired director, and also contrasts the past and present of Tokyo.
