The Taiwan Way - Gua Bao

In search of some meaningful addition to Yumpling’s menu, Chris embarks on a journey into the world of dumplings that takes him to Din Tai Fung, a globally recognised restaurant, where he indulges in some savoury and sweet Xiao Long Bao with friend Kristen Wu. Chris’ taste buds eventually lead him to a humble Taiwanese snack. He meets veteran Gua Bao maker, Ah Yi, whose traditional recipe has received the Bib Gourmand Award and later witnesses the masterful preparation of this pork-dominated delight. Chris concludes his Gua Bao experience at Entrepreneur Joey Pan’s restaurant where the Gua Bao was elevated to an upmarket social centerpiece. With every bite, his hunger for culinary adventure is satisfied and it’s definitely a worthwhile journey.
