The Man Who Has A Camera (Newly Scored by Lim Giong)
1933・Taiwan・29 minutes
Liu Naou, a novelist and director during the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan, recorded his relatives, friends and the beautiful scenery of various places he traveled in 1933. The film is divided into five volumes: "Human World", "Parade", "Landscape", "Guangdong" and "Tokyo". It is not only a home video and an experimental documentary, but also an intimate diary written with images. A large number of close-ups of characters, multi-angle shots, and rapid editing make the image full of rhythm. Musician Lin Qiang created a new soundtrack for the silent video in 2019. Electronic music and vocal singing are set against the black and white video, and the conversation spans nearly 90 years, allowing you to feel the splendor of the current era.
