Realm of Reverberations
2015・Taiwan・58 minutes
"If people are rich and powerful, what they say is reasonable. Who calls us the weak?" Residents of Lesheng Sanatorium who were forced to "use the hospital as their home" due to Han disease (commonly known as leprosy) found themselves at the Beijing Municipal MRT Bureau Under forced demolition, a more than ten-year anti-forced eviction campaign was launched. Even though young social activists actively resisted, more than 70% of Lesheng was demolished. The film uses the perspective of elderly residents, women who take care of residents, and fictional political prisoners as the perspective, quietly staring at the remaining hospital area, with aging and speechless faces, abandoned operating tables, and corroded medical briefing slides... wandering in black and white. Between light and shadow, life and death, we pick up the remains and reverberations.
