Walchensee Forever
2020・Germany・112 minutes
This is an autobiographical documentary about four generations of mothers and daughters in a family spanning a century. In 1924, the director's great-grandmother moved to Walchensee in Germany to open a cafe, which was later taken over by her grandmother. In 1967, her mother and her aunt formed a band to wander in Mexico, and also joined the San Francisco hippie movement, bringing hippie culture back to Germany. From wandering to returning home, what is their imagination of "home"? This film starts from the death of the aunt, and through interviews with the mother and grandmother, reveals the little-known life story of the woman in the family.
