Film has always been my window to understanding the world. Beyond seeing different cultures and landscapes, it also helps me search for self-identity. Especially in Taiwan decades ago, when sexual orientation was still an unspoken secret, my younger self could only flip through movie magazines, searching for any keywords hinting at "homosexuality" to convince myself that there were others like me. During Taiwan Pride Month, I'm grateful that film has shown those of us who feel out of place in the world that we are, in fact, not alone, and that every kind of love deserves to shine brightly.
