On the median line of the Taiwan Strait between Kinmen and Xiamen, China, there are endless occurrences of sand theft and the accumulation of Styrofoam debris. Tracking the source of this destruction leads to bays overrun with aquaculture, and towns preparing to build international airports... Huge business opportunities, even more massive land reclamation projects, are ravaging the original rural landscapes, all for the sake of the "China Dream," where economic achievement is placed above all else. On Xiamen Island, large banners proclaiming "One Country, Two Systems, Unify China" greet swimmers who swim from Kinmen to the other side. Crossing the line in the strait, they are not embraced by a raging sea, but by an economic behemoth that devours the environment.
