However, international trends were changing, and China and the United States became friendly to confront the Soviet Union, which led to Taiwan's withdrawal from the United Nations. In the pessimistic atmosphere, Chiang Ching-kuo worked hard to develop and build, and Taiwan's foreign trade ranked 15th in the world in 1984. He has led Taiwan towards a stable economic take-off and step by step out of the gloom of the international situation.
